Fun with Flags (how we rigged our courtesy flag)

Flag fixing finally figured out! Alliteration aside, this was a simple job but not one that seemed to be out there on the internet so this is how we’ve rigged ours. Please feel free to offer alternatives if you’ve sussed out a better way to do it! Essentially we ran a line through a pulley on the starboard cross tree, then back to a stay cleat. A bowline loop in the line and a couple of mini carabiner clips (£1.50 the pair) secures your courtesy flag nicely. The carabiner clips allow for quick release when you need to take the flag down or replace with another. This system would also allow more than one flag to be raised with the addition of another clip and loop. Hope that makes some kind of sense. The photos might help a bit!
